Ukraine announced new defense priorities for 2025

Ukraine presented its military strategy for 2025 during the 25th meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, which took place at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov.

According to the minister, the strategy covers four key priorities:

  1. Stabilization of the front line – focusing efforts on maintaining occupied positions and preventing breakthroughs from the enemy.
  2. Strengthening Ukraine's defense capability - development of defense potential with an emphasis on mobility, efficiency and adaptation to the conditions of modern warfare.
  3. Strengthening the protection of the sky and sea lanes - improving air defense systems and guaranteeing the safety of maritime infrastructure.
  4. An asymmetric response to the aggressor is the development of strategies and means that will allow countering the enemy's superiority in numbers or scale of operations.

Rustem Umyerov emphasized that this meeting was a landmark in strengthening Ukrainian defense capabilities. One of the key topics of the meeting was the approval of roadmaps for the development of the Defense Forces of Ukraine until 2027.

"We have moved to a new level of cooperation: in addition to closing the urgent needs of the war, we will also work on building the long-term capabilities of our army," the minister said.
