Ukraine increased its debt to the IMF to $13.85 billion

Ukraine has increased its debt to the International Monetary Fund to $ 13.85 billion after receiving a fifth tranche of $ 2.2 billion within the four -year expanded funding program (EFF). This information is provided by the Fund on its website.

In the long run, Ukraine has become the second largest IMF debtor, maintaining this status after Argentina, which is a leader with the highest amount of lending to the fund. To date, Argentina's debt to the IMF is $ 40.94 billion, after the country re -appealed to the Fund in 2022 at an additional $ 44 billion credit, against the background of its economic situation.

The second largest debtor in the long period was Egypt, which now has an obligation to the IMF of $ 13.59 billion, which is slightly less than in Ukraine ($ 13.85 billion).

In total, 46% of the IMF loans are three largest borrowers, while 94 countries have outstanding liabilities to the Fund, the total amount of which is $ 150.44 billion as of July 4, 2024.

In addition to Ukraine, among the countries of Europe that have debt to the IMF, there are countries such as Serbia ($ 1.25 billion), Moldova ($ 910.40 million), Georgia ($ 569.89 million), Northern Macedonia ($ 361.32 million), Armenia ($ 294.38 million).
