Ukrainian banks reduced the share of unpaid loans

In the Ukrainian banking sector there is a significant reduction in the amount of non -working loans, which amounted to UAH 9.6 billion in the first nine months of 2023. According to the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine, as of October 1 this year, the total amount of non -working loans decreased to UAH 4222.5 billion.

According to the regulator, the total share of non -working loans from the beginning of the year decreased by 0.2 percentage points and was 37.9%. In September this year, the volume of non -working loans in the banking sector decreased by UAH 4 billion and their share decreased by 0.6 percentage points.

This significant success has been achieved by writing off non -working retail loans and improving the quality of new loans, mostly those provided under state programs.

Compared to the previous year, the recognition of credit losses this year has slowed down. Banks' deductions to loans from the start of a full -scale war amounted to UAH 107 billion, which is almost 13% of the loan portfolio that banks had at the end of February 2022.

The National Bank of Ukraine noted that the stability of banks and the banking system is currently being assessed. According to preliminary evaluation results, banks generally assess credit risks. However, some banks may need to take into account additional credit risk.

It should be noted that before the start of a full -scale military operation in Ukraine, the share of non -working loans in Ukrainian banks has declined since 2018, declining from 55% to 27% as of March 1, 2022. While the volume of loans from banks continued to grow, indicating positive dynamics in the banking sector of the country.
