There were 138,000 doses of inactivated polio vaccine (IPV), the Ministry of Health reported. The supply was made in the course of the Ministry of Health with the Global Alliance with Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
The ministry reminded that according to the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations in 2025, polio vaccination is carried out according to the following scheme: at 2 and 4 months children are introduced inactivated vaccine (IPV), and at 6 and 18 months, as well as at 6 and 14 years - oral polio.
Polio is a serious infectious disease that affects the central nervous system and can lead to paralysis or even death. Children under five are the highest risk of the disease. The last case of polio in Ukraine was recorded in 2021.
The Ministry of Health stressed that vaccination remains the only reliable way to protect children from this dangerous disease. To obtain vaccination, parents should consult your family doctor, therapist, pediatrician or the nearest health care facility. All vaccinations on the calendar of preventive vaccinations are free.
The partnership agreement between GAVI and Ukraine was signed at the end of 2024. According to the arrangements, part of the vaccines for the National Immunization Program is funded by GAVI. The purchase and delivery of vaccines to Ukraine is provided by UniceF Ukraine, and the distribution of vaccines by regions is coordinated by the Public Health Center of Ukraine.
