Ukraine is strengthening the requirements for receiving a pension in 2024

According to the new provisions of the Law on Compulsory State Pension Insurance, which will come into force in Ukraine since the beginning of 2024, the requirements for pensioners will be significantly strengthened. The new version of the law stipulates that in order to retire, citizens need to have long work experience.

In particular, 60-year-old people need a minimum of 31 years of experience in a month and a half to get the right to a pension. Those who have work experience from 21 to 31 will only have the opportunity to retire at 63 years. In order to receive a pension at 65, you need to have 15 to 21 years of experience. For new requirements, Ukrainians will need at least 35 years of experience to obtain a pension.

It should be noted that the introduction of such strict requirements for length of service was not envisaged in the adoption of the law in 2017. At the end of 2022, two factors were influenced by the Crownavirus pandemic and a full -scale war that influenced the employment and caused the pension norms.

As a result of these changes, some Ukrainians, especially those who are not able to extend their work experience, will be difficult to meet new requirements. This can cause some persons to work at the retirement age.

It is important to note that those who do not work officially have the right to voluntarily contribute to the Pension Fund in the amount of 22% of the minimum wage, which in January 2024 is UAH 1474. This can be an important element for those who want to secure a stable pension in the future.
