The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) strongly condemned the statement of Viceremier of Poland Krzysztof Gavkovsky, which was performed on November 4 on the air of the Polish Radio Zet. Gavkovsky argued that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is trying to draw Poland into the war with Russia, in particular by calling for the beat of Russian missiles and drones flying towards the Polish border.
Gavkovsky expressed his indignation that Zelensky is allegedly dishonest about Poland, which actively supports Ukraine in the war with Russia and is an important logistics hub to help the Ukrainian army. Viceremier stressed that in such situations, Ukraine should thank Poland and not make demands.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called Poland's statement as unfounded and unacceptable, emphasizing the importance of killing Russian missiles and drones flying in Poland. In its statement, the Foreign Ministry stressed that such actions of Ukraine are aimed at ensuring the safety of not only Ukrainian but also Polish citizens.
"Russia is leading a war not only against Ukraine, but also against the entire European security architecture, which is an integral part of Poland," the Foreign Ministry said. The department added that provocations, cyberattacks and violations of the airspace of Poland and other European countries by Russia confirm that Ukraine's struggle with aggression of the Russian Federation helps to prevent the expansion of war in other countries.
The Ukrainian side emphasized the importance of preserving and strengthening solidarity between Ukraine and Poland at this difficult time. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the hope that the Polish government would also support joint efforts to achieve victory over Russia and restore peace in the region.
