Ukraine called on NATO to issue an invitation to join at the December meeting

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga appealed to NATO Allies to invite Ukraine to the Alliance at a meeting that will take place on December 3-4 in Brussels. In a letter to colleagues from NATO Sibiga countries, he stressed that this step would be an adequate response to the escalation of the war by Russia.

According to Ukraine, the constant increase of Russia's military aggression, including the involvement of North Korean troops and the use of new weapons, are unprecedented threats that require decisive action from the international community. Ukraine's invitation to NATO, Sibiga notes, will serve as an important signal for Moscow and demonstration of Kiev support.

The next meeting of the Ukraine-Ukraine will be held on December 3 at the level of foreign ministers in Brussels. It is a key playground for discussing Ukraine's Euro -Atlantic integration and forming a collective response to Russian aggression.

NATO's position on Ukraine's membership remains a matter of political debate. At the July Summit in Vilnius, Member States agreed that Ukraine would become a member of NATO, but have not yet been submitted a clear schedule or formal proposal.

  1. Increasing Ukraine's defense capability : NATO membership will provide Ukraine with security guarantees, which will significantly change the balance of forces in the region.
  2. Escalation from Russia : an invitation can cause a stringent Kremlin reaction, which views NATO enlargement as a threat.
  3. Increasing the unity of the event : the adoption of Ukraine will be a signal that the Alliance is ready for decisive action to protect democratic values.
