Since November 2024, more than 6.5 thousand citizens have applied for weapons declaration. More than 7.4 thousand units have been declared in total - some persons have several trunks. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kateryna Pavlichenko has informed about it, the Department of Communication of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
According to her, Ukraine became the first state in the world to introduce a legal declaration of weapons during a full -scale war. The purpose of the initiative is to establish legal control over the circulation of weapons among the population, without prohibiting its storage in a legal way.
At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police and the State Border Guard Service are carrying out permanent measures to identify and terminate the illegal circulation of weapons - both in the territory of Ukraine and abroad.
The introduction of declaration was the first stage of formation of a legislatively regulated market of civilian weapons in Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs hope that the initiative will promote security and transparency, and will allow to introduce a full registration of all units of privately owned weapons in the future.
