The Government of Ukraine has reduced the electricity tariff for consumers with extremely high volumes of use. The Cabinet of Ministers decided to set the cost of electricity for volumes over 2,000 kWh per month at the level of UAH 2.64 per kWh.
During the heating season, the state ensured the unchanged tariff for electricity for the population at UAH 4.32 per kWh. In addition, for citizens using electric heating installations, there is a preferential tariff of 2.64 UAH per kWh for volumes up to 2 thousand kW/h per month. Previously, this preferential tariff did not apply to consumption exceeding the established limit, and such consumers were forced to pay at a full rate.
The new mechanism provides that consumers will pay at the full tariff (UAH 4.32 per kW/h) only for those electricity that exceeds the limit of 2 thousand kW/h. The remaining volumes will be paid at a reduced preferential tariff - UAH 2.64 per kWh.
Prime Minister Denis Shmigal noted that this decision was made within the framework of a comprehensive support program. According to him, the mechanism of the preferential tariff is implemented at the expense of special responsibilities (PSOs), which allows to provide a fairer distribution of electricity costs for citizens. This initiative is part of the State Strategy for Supporting Ukrainians, which will continue after winter.
