US officials warn of the possible consequences of lack of military assistance from the United States for Ukraine, anticipating potential losses of territories and the death of a large number of Ukrainians.
One of the high -ranking American officials, commenting on the situation to publish, noted that the lack of additional support can lead to collapse: even if the Armed Forces of Ukraine are able to repel the attacks of the enemy, it can do "unspeakable human loss."
CIA Director William Burns, in front of lawmakers, warned that without assistance from the United States, the territorial losses of Ukraine would be “significant” this year.
White House representatives do not openly discuss alternative help options for Ukraine, hoping that with the help of public pressure they will be able to achieve an effective vote for the allocation of $ 60 billion of new assistance.
But in private conversations, they [US officials] came to the conclusion that political inability can outweigh - either undermine a package of assistance, or take it too late to avoid catastrophe for the government in Kiev.
US officials have noted that in the event of final termination of financial assistance to Ukraine from the United States, the future of the country will depend on the ability to mobilize new forces, the success of training initiatives in the West and the moral spirit of the troops.
"Whether it will collapse or significant losses, it is subjected to internal debates. But without additional and constant support from the United States, there can be no future for Ukraine," the high -ranking official added.
