In Ukraine, the number of botulism cases is increasing

Since the beginning of 2025, 41 cases of botulism have been recorded in Ukraine, including four children. The infection has died. This was announced by the Deputy General Director of the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Alexei Danylenko on the national telephone on Thursday, June 5.

According to him, as of today, 31 Botulism units have been registered. The disease continues to pose a serious threat to the health of the population, as it can lead to serious complications and even death.

“As of today, we have information about the registered 31 btock cells, where 41 people were injured, including four children. And, unfortunately, in 2025 we already have two fatal cases, ”Danilenko said.

Botulism occurs as a result of botulotoxin poisoning - an extremely strong toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum . For the most part, infection is due to the use of products that have been improperly preserved or manufactured in unsanitary conditions.

Experts emphasize that most often the source of botulism are meat and fish canned food, as well as dried or dried river fish.

  • Bloating, digestive disorders

These symptoms may appear within a few hours after eating contaminated food or manifest within 10 days

Doctors urge that in the event of the first symptoms, immediately seek medical help. Timely administration of anti -botulinum serum can save life.
