Washington accepted the Kremlin Messenger

Special representative of US President Steve Witcoff held a meeting with the head of the Russian direct investment (RFI) in Washington Kirill Dmitriev. According to Reuters on April 2, Dmitriev's visit took place after temporary withdrawal from him by the US government, which allowed him to receive an American visa.

According to Reuters, with reference to two American officials, Dmitriev, a Russian President Vladimir Putin, met in Washington with US officials. This meeting took place against the backdrop of President Donald Trump's attempts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as pressure on Moscow and Kiev.

It is not yet known what issues were discussed during the meeting. However, this visit came after Trump has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow ceasefire negotiations. In his address, he stated that he was "angry" on Putin and hinted at the possible imposition of sanctions against Russian oil buyers.

Reuters reports that Vitcoff, who controls the contacts of the Trump administration with the Kremlin, invited Dmitriev to the United States last week. In order to provide this visit, the US government has temporarily lifted sanctions from the RFPI chairman, allowing the State Department to issue a visa.
