Working memory, which plays an important role in the daily life of a person, was influenced by various factors, as the results of the last scientific report published in the journal of the International Neuropsychological Society have shown. Scientists have identified three key factors related to work memory: sleep, age and mood.
Working memory is a part of short -term memory, which is responsible for temporary storage and management of information. This process is especially important in tasks that require a high level of cognitive abilities such as situation assessment, speech and navigation.
The study was conducted in two stages - qualitative and quantitative. The first study confirmed that poor sleep and depressed mood lead to a deterioration of quantitative indicators of work memory. The second study has shown that the accuracy of work memory has a reverse dependence on age - with aging people more often become prone to confusion of details and have less accurate memories.
Scientists believe that the consideration of several factors can simultaneously contribute to the further development of methods of treatment of poor memory symptoms. The following tips are recommended to keep the best work memory:
- Provide sufficient sleep as it helps to improve mood and work memory.
- Enter meditation practice that helps process emotions and improve mental health.
- Consume more healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables and nuts containing antioxidants to combat oxidative stress.
- Do physical activity as it increases your mood and overall health.
