In an interview with Novinky, the President of the Czech Republic has suggested that the war in Ukraine could go from the hot phase to the frozen, which can last for years. In his opinion, this can happen in the coming months and a few years.
Pavel noted that the end of the war would require considerable international support and efforts from the world, including the United States and China. "The war will continue until there is sufficient power to convince both parties in the inability to achieve its political goals in the military means," he said.
The Czech President believes that a frozen phase of conflict can last for years, but it will create conditions for possible negotiations in the future. According to him, not only the United States, but China should play an active role in pushing both parties to diplomatic settlement.
Paul also stressed that although the European Union is a significant economic and political force, he needs a single approach with the US and other democratic countries in the world to make progress in resolving conflict. "The EU is not able to influence the situation on its own. It is important that all democratic countries combine their efforts to achieve peace," he added.
