Already tomorrow, October 24, the worldwide, WhatsApp messenger will stop working on a huge number of smartphones that will touch millions of users.
As previously announced, from October 24 WhatsApp will stop supporting the versions of the Android operating system below version 5.0 (Lollipop). Previously, this messenger worked on Android devices not lower than 4.1. Thus, smartphone owners with Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 Kitkat have less than a day to update their devices if they plan to continue using this popular application.
According to Google statistics in June 2023, approximately 0.5% of all active Android devices worked under the control of Android 4.4 Kitkat. However, given the total number of green robots in excess of 3 billion, this applies to approximately 15 million devices where WhatsApp will no longer work.
