Spring weather in Ukraine is often unpredictable, and drivers, having already changed the tires to the summer, may find themselves in a situation where a sharp cold is jeopardizing their safety on the road. What if the temperature suddenly drops below +7 ° C and the car is already "rented"? Is it worth running again to tire? In fact, not always, and you can reduce the risks by following a few simple rules.
Summer rubber loses its optimal properties at temperatures below +7 ° C, becoming harder and worse with the road, especially when the surface is wet or slippery. But if your trips are limited to short distances and you do not plan to go outside the city or in the mountains, the situation may be less dangerous. Avoid long distances, especially in unpredictable weather. Reduce speed and increase the distance: it will allow you to have more time to reaction if the road is slippery. Avoid sharp maneuvers: smooth movement and caution will help to avoid emergencies. Check the tire pressure: in conditions of cooling it can be reduced, so it is important to check regularly so that the tires have the required pressure level. Avoid dangerous areas: lifting, country roads, mountain trades and places with possible ice or snow is better left for other days. Wait the bad weather within the city: if the situation on the street is deteriorating, it is better to stop and wait for the improvement.
If your trips are regular and you get into the regions prone to snow or ice, you may still be replacing summer tires for winter, especially if the weather does not improve in the near future. However, if warming is expected for several days, it is better to adapt to temporary conditions and save money without changing the tires.
Spring in Ukraine can be very variable, so it is important to always be prepared for weather changes. Check the forecast, adapt the driving style and have everything you need in the car in case of unpredictable situations. Take care of yourself on the road!
