In Ukraine, the first cases of metapneumovovirus infection are recorded, which is spread by airborne droplets and has high potential for infection. Today, 13 cases of this disease have been confirmed in the country, but the real number of infected can be much higher. Epidemiology doctor Olga Golubovskaya urges citizens to be careful for symptoms, not to neglect prevention and to consult a doctors in time in case of deterioration.
According to the data, the incubation period of metapneumovovirus infection is from three to six days, and the duration of the disease usually does not exceed ten days. It is noted that the most active period for this virus occurs in late winter and spring. The doctor explains that the disease can occur in a mild form, with symptoms of cold and cough, or in more severe form, which can lead to severe respiratory failure. Prevention of infection is an important step in the fight against viral diseases. Olga Golubovskaya advises to limit contacts with patients, often wash their hands, ventilate the premises and avoid clusters of people during mass events. It also emphasizes the importance of regular monitoring of their health, especially for people at risk, and vitamins, including vitamin D, as prescribed by a doctor. The doctor emphasizes that when the first symptoms appear - the cold, cough or shortness of breath - you should consult your doctor immediately. In case of deterioration, patients should agree to hospitalization to avoid complications. "The severity of the disease should be assessed not only by temperature, but also by the patient's general condition, especially if he is at risk," Golubovskaya notes. It also adds that concomitant infections that cause other viruses or bacteria can become a trigger for a severe disease, so the use of broad -spectrum antiviral drugs can be justified
Disease with metapneumovovirus infection can be a serious threat, so it is important not only to take preventive measures, but also to be careful about changes in your health. Doctors urge citizens not to delay treatment and always consult medical institutions at the first sign of the disease.
