In Ukraine, drivers have long been accustomed to communicating with each other with gestures: by waving your hand or open palm, you can greet, apologize or thank on the road. This is part of the local car culture, and although such traditions are common in many countries, they are far off everywhere. In particular, in the United Kingdom, drivers should be very careful with gestures while driving.
In the United Kingdom, traffic rules prohibit drivers cleaning hands from the steering wheel without urgent need. If a police officer notice that the driver is gesturing on the road, it can lead to a fine. In particular, for such an act, the offender can be fined at 100 to 200 £ 200 (from 5 200 to 10 400 UAH at the current rate). And this is not all - if such a distraction has a violation of traffic or road accidents, the amount of the fine can increase significantly. In this case, the maximum fine can reach £ 1,000 (52,000 UAH). An important reason for such a strict policy is road safety. British legislators emphasize that the driver should maintain the maximum concentration and control of the vehicle. Even a few seconds of distraction can lead to tragic consequences. In some situations, gratitude or greetings can have serious effects on the road.
Thanks to such strict politics, Britain tries to minimize cases where drivers' inattention leads to accidents, while maintaining high traffic standards.
