The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya, which became a landmark event for bilateral relations. The meeting, which the president announced in his Telegram channel, symbolizes the strengthening of cooperation between Ukraine and Japan.
Ukraine became the first country that Minister Iwaya visited after the formation of the new Japanese government. This emphasizes the importance that the Japanese side attaches to supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. During the meeting, significant financial support from Japan was discussed, including an aid package for Ukraine's energy sector. Special attention was paid to the decision of the G7 countries, according to which Japan allocated 3 billion dollars to Ukraine. These funds are part of a $50 billion loan package that will be repaid with frozen Russian assets. President Zelensky expressed gratitude to Japan for its financial and humanitarian support, which plays an important role in ensuring stability in wartime conditions. The assistance includes not only funding but also resources to address the energy challenges caused by Russian strikes.
This meeting emphasizes the importance of Japan's role as one of Ukraine's key partners in Asia and within the international community. Thanks to support from Japan and other G7 members, Ukraine receives not only material aid, but also diplomatic support in resisting Russian aggression.
