25 Ukrainians returned from Russian captivity

Ukraine continues to fight for its citizens held in Russian captivity. On January 15, it became known that another 25 Ukrainians returned home - both military and civilians. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has informed about it.

"Today, 25 of our people are returning to Ukraine. These are our military and civilians. Among them are the defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, as well as Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson.

Zelensky thanked the team that tirelessly worked on the search for Ukrainians and the organization of their return, as well as the United Arab Emirates for helping this important mission.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine specified that this time it was possible to organize a separate format for the return of seriously ill and wounded prisoners. Among the repatriots - soldiers, sailors, sergeants, as well as one civilian, captured in the Kyiv region.

Representatives of different units have returned to Ukraine: the National Guard, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular territorial defense, naval forces, the State Border Service. Also managed to take away the soldiers who were held captive in the Kursk region.

The youngest of the returned Ukrainians is 24 years old, and the oldest was 60. Many of them have undergone horrific physical and moral trials during captivity.

According to GUR, among the wounded are those who lost their eyesight, limbs, suffered complex bullet wounds or suffered from mine-explosive injuries. Diseases include tuberculosis, oncology and gangrene are a clear evidence of inhumane detention conditions.

All released will receive proper treatment, rehabilitation and support after returning to Ukraine.
