Fitzo's law caused a wave of protests

Mass protests against the scandalous law of Prime Minister Robert Fitzo broke out in Slovakia. Thousands of people went to the streets of Bratislava and other cities, condemning the initiative, which, in their opinion, threatens the activities of non -governmental organizations (NGOs). There is expected that on Friday the protest will cover three dozen cities in Slovakia and will take place even beyond.

The bill, which is already under consideration of parliament, was initiated by the Fitzo government and aimed at strictly regulating the activities of non -governmental organizations. According to the latest version of the document, NGOs will be considered "lobbyists", although it is not given a clear definition of this term.

The protest organizers claim that this law aims to restrict civil society, intimidate activists and strengthen control of disagreements. They compare it with similar laws adopted in Russia, which significantly limited the activities of independent organizations.

  • The law is considered anti -democratic and aimed at restricting public rights.

  • The slogans were chanting: "No Russian laws!" But "we will not give up freedom."

  • They insist that the law violates the Constitution of Slovakia and EU rules.

  • He assures that the bill is aimed at increasing the transparency of NGO funding.

  • It emphasizes that the law will help to identify the influence of external donors on the political situation in the country.

Currently, protests have taken place in the capital of Bratislava, Kosice and four more cities. However, there is a significant expansion of protest movement on Friday: rallies are planned in more than 30 cities in Slovakia and abroad.

The situation in the country remains tense, and the issue of the bill is gaining international resonance. European partners are watching the development of events and awaiting the reactions of the Fitzo government to public resistance.
