Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree that enforces the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on new sanctions. 18 citizens of Ukraine and Russia came under the restriction, including journalists, former officials and politicians. All these persons will be deprived of state awards and economic sanctions will be imposed.
The text of the decree states that sanctions concern persons actively supporting Russia's aggression against Ukraine, promote propaganda activities or have switched to the enemy's side. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that this step is aimed at blocking the activities of those who help Russia in its efforts to continue the war. “He has just signed a decree that gives the NSDC a decision on sanctions. We block propagandists who work for Russia, people who have switched to the enemy side and those who help Russia to continue the war. And also we continue to deprive state awards - only those who really dedicate life to Ukraine deserve the title of the Hero of Ukraine, ”Zelensky said, commenting on the signing of the decree.
The President also announced that new sanctions would be announced in the near future. Ukraine continues to actively use economic and political tools to combat Russia's aggression and support state security.
