A resident of Ternopil region received a year of conditional imprisonment for ill -treatment of a minor grandson because he could not study the prayer. It became known from the sentence of the Kremenets District Court, which heard the case.
The incident happened on September 18, 2022. On that day, the woman insisted that her little grandson would study a certain prayer, but the boy could not do so because of her age and intellectual features. Grandma's reaction was excessively cruel: she applied the baby to the baby, causing him numerous strokes with nettles. The woman also inserted the boy into her mouth and choked him for a few minutes, which could have serious consequences for the baby's health.
The court took into account a number of circumstances, including the age and health of the woman, as well as the repentance. In court, she pleaded guilty, assured that it was the only case, and promised that nothing like this would happen.
Taking into account all the factors, the court imposed a conditional punishment with a probation for one year. She was also obliged to undergo a special program for the abusers for three months and pay more than UAH 18,000 for judicial examinations that were necessary during the investigation of the case.
