Amazon releases details of layoffs of hundreds of employees

Amazon, an e -commerce giant, plans to reduce hundreds of developers working on Alexa voice assistant. Vice President Amazon, Daniel Raush, Alexa Development Manager, announced this decision by providing the company's priorities in artificial intelligence.

"The company seeks to better meet our business priorities. This makes us stop some initiatives, which leads to a reduction in several hundred positions," Raush said. Amazon decided to concentrate the efforts on the opportunities that the Internet intelligence (II) gives.

Alexa voice assistant is already integrated into millions of smart devices, but the emergence of more efficient tools based on a generative II has found limited capacity.

Amazon, which traditionally avoided significant dismissals of workers, was forced to take similar measures last year due to the effects of pandemic. In general, the company has made a number of dismissals in various units, including cloud services, advertising and play business.

Raush said that employees who will be reduced in the US and Canada will receive a message on Friday morning on Seattle. Workplaces in India and other countries will also be reorganized according to a schedule that will “provide consultations with groups of employees”.
