In the morning of Tuesday, May 14, the State Secretary of the United States, Anthony Blinken, arrived in Kiev. His visit aims to detect solidarity in the context of recent military assistance supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This visit is the first after approval at the end of April with a Congress of the long -awaited military assistance package for Ukraine worth 61 billion dollars.
The purpose of the visit is to identify the US solidarity with Ukraine, whose defense forces are struggling with the offensive of Russian troops and massive bombardment on the northeast border from the Russian Federation in Kharkiv region.
The American delegation official, who was recently communicated with journalists, noted that Blinken arrived in Kiev early in the morning and hopes to "send a strong signal to support Ukrainians, who are obviously in a very difficult position."
"The mission of the Secretary of State is to tell how our additional assistance will be provided in such a way as to strengthen their defense, and to allow them more and more to intercept the initiative on the battlefield," the official said.
He also reported that President Joe Biden, April 24, artillery, long -range missiles, known as PTRC, and air defense systems, is already coming to the Armed Forces of Ukraine on April 24.
This is not Anthony Blinken's first visit to Ukraine. He visited the country in September last year and held meetings with the political leadership of the state.
Last week, the United States allocated a $ 400 million military assistance package, which includes missiles for Patriot and NASAMS systems, Styinger's anti -aircraft missiles, Himars ammunition and artillery, among other things.
The White House has already announced a new package of assistance for Ukraine, and ex-deputy secretary Victoria Nutland said that this summer, the United States will be transferred to Ukraine even more long-distance weapons.
