The older was officially invited by the Chairman of the European Council Anthony Right, which is an important signal to restore the political dialogue between London and Brussels. Down Street confirmed that the Prime Minister "gladly accepted" this invitation.

At the meeting of the Heads of State and Government, the EU Kir Starmer emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of defense and security.

"We want to create an ambitious security partnership between the UK and the EU to support NATO," he said during a conversation with European politicians.

This meeting is a preparatory stage for the May -UK May Summit, which should give a new impetus to bilateral relations. The event is expected to take place in the UK.

Recall that the United Kingdom officially left the European Union on January 31, 2020 after the 2016 referendum, with 51.89% of voters supported Brexit. After the 11-month transition period, the country came not only from the EU, but also from its customs union and a single domestic market.
