Joe Biden arrived in Lima to participate in the APEC summit

US President Joe Biden has arrived in Lima (Peru) to participate in the summit of Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), where together with 20 other participants will discuss cooperation in trade, investment, innovation and steady economic growth. APEC covers 21 countries with about 60% of world GDP, and since 1989 the organization has contributed to the strengthening of economic ties and investments in the region.

During the summit, Biden plans to announce the conclusion of new penalic agreements on the fight against drug trafficking, the development of rail infrastructure and cooperation in space research. In particular, NASA will sign a memorandum with the Peruvian Space Agency, which will help to strengthen partnership in space.

Baiden's trilateral negotiations with Japan Prime Minister Siger Ishiba and South Korea President Jan Jun Jol Jol are scheduled for Friday. These meetings are planning to make these meetings regularly, ensuring stability of the strategic alliance even after the administration has changed.

On Sunday, Biden will go to the Brazilian city of Manaus, where he visits Amazonia, and then-to Rio de Janeiro to participate in the G20 summit. Biden will also meet with China President Xi Jinping. Leaders are expected to discuss issues related to the threat of new trade conflicts between the US and China, which may recover after Donald Trump's administration arrives.

China's President Xi Jinping came to Lima a few hours before Baiden and has already negotiated with President Peru Dina Boloarte. The leaders took part in the virtual opening of the new Port Changai, built with the participation of Chinese investors.
