Estonia has decided not to deport Ukrainian men to their homeland for military service in the country's army. This was stated by the Advisor to the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia, Anneli Vicks.
"Mobilization is a matter concerning the state and its citizens. The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not have a plan for compulsory repatriation of Ukrainian citizens who legally reside in Estonia and escaped through the war, in particular citizens of Ukraine belonging to the target group of possible Ukrainian mobilization," - reports her words.
Ukrainians with overdue documents will continue to live in Estonia, but will not be able to travel to other countries.
"The absence of a current travel document does not limit the possibility of applying for or continuing a residence permit (including on the basis of temporary protection). The current procedure also allows the identification or confirmation of a person on the basis of other evidence. However, a foreigner cannot apply for a visa in the absence of a valid travel document,"
