France again demands the arrest of Bashar al-Assad

French investigative judges issued a second warrant for the arrest of the former Syrian leader Bashar al -Assad. This time he is suspected of complicity in war crimes, in particular, in a deliberate attack on civilians. About it reports Reuters on Wednesday, January 22.

The new warrant concerns the investigation of the death of the Franco-Syrian citizen Salah Abu Nabura, who died on June 7, 2017 during Air Force in Syria. The French judicial authorities believe that Assad personally ordered and provided means to perform this attack.

This is the second international warrant issued by Bashar Assad in recent years. In November 2023, French judges accused him of complicity in crimes against humanity, in particular, because of chemical attacks in the Duma and the East Huta area in August 2013. Those attacks took away the lives of more than 1000 civilians.

Bashar Assad, who was thrown away by the rebels in December 2024 after more than a decade of the board, continues to deny his involvement in chemical attacks and accusations of war crimes. According to him, the actions of his regime were aimed solely to fight terrorists as part of the Civil War, which began in 2011.
