In December 2024, the Pension Fund of Ukraine will start accrual of compensatory surcharges for pensioners who have reached a certain age. These surcharges are provided for citizens aged 70 and older, but their size and timing depend on the age of the recipient.
The allowances will be assigned to pensioners who will reach 70, 75 or 80 years in December. Depending on the age category, the amount of monthly compensation will be as follows: 300 UAH per month - for persons after 70 years; 456 UAH per month - after 75 years; 570 UAH per month - after 80 years.
Supplements begin to calculate from the birthday of the pensioner, not from the beginning of the calendar month. Because of this, in the first month after reaching the appropriate age, the amount of payment will be proportional to the number of days from the date of birth to the end of the month. For example, if the birthday falls on December 15, the supplement for December will only be calculated in 17 days (from the 15th to the 31st). Since January, the payment will be made in full. For the convenience of pensioners, the Pension Fund is automatically accrued. However, there is one important condition: the total amount of the recipient's pension should not exceed UAH 10 340.35. In case of exceeding this amount, no additional payments are provided.
Age payments are part of the support of the elderly. They are intended to compensate for increased health care and other age needs. This mechanism provides more targeted assistance focused on medium and low pension.
