Today, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Italian Prime Minister George Meloni have held a constructive telephone conversation, during which they made an important decision to work together on bilateral security guarantees.
President Zelensky personally announced it in his official account on the social network, emphasizing the importance of concluding such guarantees to strengthen the stability and security of both countries. According to him, this step determines a new stage in cooperation between Ukraine and Italy.
Political leaders have also discussed topical issues of defense cooperation, sharing thoughts on joint measures to strengthen the defense capability of both countries. Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister Meloni for his certain efforts and decisive actions of Italy in support of Ukraine in the context of the current geopolitical situation.
In addition, they discussed the need for immediate adoption of the 12th Package of Sanctions by the European Union against Russia to emphasize the unity and determination of the world community in response to events in the region.
Zelensky expressed his hope to achieve important results in partnership with Italy during the presidency of the country in G7 next year, hoping for active support and joint initiatives at the international level.
