The city authorities of Kiev decided to complete the heating season of 2024–2025, which began on October 30, 2024. Disconnection from heat supply starts today, March 24, taking into account the forecasters of weather forecasters for stable warming, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said.
According to Klitschko, the heating will be switched off in the first place in residential buildings, which is associated with an increase in air temperature in the capital. However, for social institutions, such as hospitals, kindergartens, schools and other institutions, shutdown will be made on individual applications from the heads of these institutions. The mayor of Kiev also noted that this decision was made not only on the basis of weather conditions, but also because of the need for rational use of natural gas in the face of energy crisis. Disabling heat a few days earlier compared to last year was made possible by significant warming.
Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized that the centralized heat supply system of Kiev is one of the largest in Europe, and to complete its work, as well as to shut off about a week. This is due to the large infrastructure that serves the capital.
