The Ministry of Health will check pharmacies for the presence of graduated pharmacists

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine increases the control over the compliance with pharmacy establishments for staff qualification requirements. The detected violations have become the basis for making additional checks made by the State Drug Service and Drug Control.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that the release of medicines is allowed exclusively to graduates. However, in the analysis of pharmacy work, numerous cases where patients were performed by persons without appropriate pharmaceutical education. This can be a serious threat to citizens' health.

"The patient should be sure that when receiving or buying a medicinal product, a qualified specialist is working with him, and the service meets the quality standards," said the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.

In order to ensure proper control, the Ministry of Health obliged pharmacy establishments to enter information about its employees with pharmaceutical education in the electronic health care system (ESOO). In the absence of such information on employees, the State Service has the right to initiate an unscheduled inspection to establish the compliance with the activity of licensing requirements.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that compliance with the requirements for staff qualification is not only a formality, but a issue of patient safety. That is why intensification of control is part of a broader strategy to improve the quality of medical and pharmaceutical services in Ukraine.

According to the results of inspections, penalties may be imposed, or in extreme cases, the suspended activity of pharmacies, which systematically violate the requirements of the legislation.
