Last year, 90,000 Ukrainians who were victims of violence received support from specialized services, which twice exceeded 2022. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Social Policy Ulyana Tokareva during a press conference dedicated to the results of the Ministry's work in 2023.
"In 2023, we identified the task of strengthening the national response system to cases of domestic violence. Last year, such support was given to 90 thousand families, which is twice the rate of 2022, when the figure was 45 thousand. This testifies to the successful results of the activities of services aimed, in particular, to public funds," Tokareva said.
She said that in 2023, at the expense of state subsidies in 65 communities, additional services were created for domestic violence, in particular, nine new shelters, 31 daytime center and 25 advisory services. In addition, thanks to international partners, especially the United Nations Population Fund, 26 specialized shelters, 42 crisis rooms and 49 day centers were opened in Ukraine.
"In 2024, we will definitely continue this work to have access to this support for people who suffered from violence," the Deputy Minister assured.
