Germany approves a multi -billion dollar help for Ukraine

The resignation government, which is resigning soon, has decided to provide additional military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of € 3 billion in 2025. This initiative was made possible by the perseverance of Chancellor Olaf Soltz, who, before his departure from his post, insisted on softening the borrowing rules, which became a key condition for allocating additional funds. About it reports Reuters with reference to the document of the Ministry of Finance of Germany of March 19.

In recent years, Germany has significantly increased military assistance to Ukraine, especially after a full -scale invasion of Russia in 2022. An important role in this was played by Chancellor Olaf Soltz, who, despite the domestic political difficulties, insisted on providing Ukraine with considerable support to strengthen its defense capability. His decision to mitigate borrowing rules to allocate new funds has been perceived as a turning point in relations between the two countries.

According to German Finance Minister, Jorg Kukies, an appeal to the budget committee of the Parliament, all requirements for the permission of additional funds were fulfilled. The new assistance package provides weapons in both short -term and in the outstanding. The amount of € 3 billion, which will be allocated in 2025, is only part of a larger Ukraine support plan.

In particular, Kukies intends to approve the provision of an additional 8.252 billion euros for the period from 2026 to 2029. Thus, the total amount of military assistance planned to be provided by Germany will be more than 11 billion euros.

The allocation of assistance occurs against the background of changes in the government of Germany. Olaf Scholt, who leaves his position, believes that Ukraine's support should be a priority regardless of political changes. It is unknown what the approach of the new government will be, but it is expected that Ukraine's support will continue.

In addition, Berlin's current decision is perceived by the international community as an important signal of Germany's readiness to actively promote the security of Europe.

For Ukraine, additional funds from Germany mean significant strengthening of military potential, especially in the face of continuing aggression by Russia. New assistance is expected to be aimed at purchasing high -tech weapons, ammunition and defense tools needed to restore and strengthen the country's defense capability.
