Five EU countries will strengthen monitoring of the implementation of sanctions against Russia

Five countries in the European Union (EU) have concluded an agreement in Vilnius in order to strengthen monitoring sanctions against the Russian Federation.

The Finland Customs has announced the signing of the Agreement. This document will strengthen and standardize the EU control regarding compliance with visa requirements for Russia.

In addition to Finland, the Agreement signed:

  • Estonia;
  • Lithuania;
  • Latvia;
  • Poland.

The document from Finland was signed by the Customs Chairman Rakshit himself.

"Having signed today (May 9, ed.), The agreement, we want to demonstrate the importance of close cooperation for effective control of sanctions and contribute to improving the efficiency of sanctions," Rakshit said.

Currently, 13 packages of sanctions have been imposed against Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine. However, sometimes the Kremlin manages to get around the restriction.

In April, the Vice president of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis confirmed the beginning of preparation for the next package of sanctions restrictions. At the same time, Politico reported that the EU could impose sanctions against Russian liquefied gas.
