Republican Ramaswamy called Zelensky a "Nazi"

The US politician and contender for the post of US President from the Republican Party, Vivek Ramasvami, again provoked a wave of reactions with his statements about Ukraine during debate and interview.

In his statements, Ramaswam called Ukraine not a "model of democracy", pointing to the ban on 11 opposition parties and consolidation of the media into one state television. Also, the politician expressed his indignation about the glorification of the comedian Vladimir Zelensky, calling him "Nazi in the cargo pants."

Representatives of the Ramasvami election headquarters indicated that his statements about the Nazis did not concern Zelensky, but were in mind the incident in the Canadian Parliament, connected with the Ukrainian-Canadian veteran Yaroslav Hunko, a former participant in the Division of the SS "Halychyna".

However, the reaction to these statements by Ramasvami was divided by the public. Some consider his views on Ukraine refuted and incorrect, pointing to democratic institutions and the activity of civil society in the country. Others maintain his opinion about the inefficiency of some aspects of the Ukrainian political system.

This is not the first time Ramasvami expresses his position on the war in Ukraine. Earlier, he opposed Ukraine's military support, believing that it "does not meet the interests of America." His statements have caused resonance and discussion in political circles.

Despite the controversy, Ramasvam's statements make a new element in the discussion about the role of the United States in world politics and their approach to conflicts in the international arena. The issues of democracy in Ukraine and support from the United States remain important topics for discussing in the political community.
