Rubio calls Ukraine to difficult decisions to reach peace

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that territorial concessions from Kiev may be required to achieve peace in Ukraine. He told reporters during the flight to Saudi Arabia, where negotiations with Ukrainian high -ranking officials should take place, reports The New York Times.

Marco Rubio stressed that both parties - Ukraine and Russia - should be ready to make difficult decisions. According to him, "the most important thing we will go from from here is a strong feeling that Ukraine is ready to do complex things, as well as the Russians will have to do complex things to put an end to this" conflict "or at least suspend it in some way."

The Secretary of State refused to specify the possible conditions of the future peace agreement, but noted that the military path is not a possible solution to the conflict. He stressed that "Russians cannot conquer all Ukraine, and it is obvious that Ukraine will be very difficult at any reasonable period of time to force the Russians to return to where they were in 2014."

According to Rubio, it will be important during future negotiations to determine what concessions are ready to make. At the same time, according to the newspaper, meetings on Tuesday will probably not be involved in the issue of the agreement on Ukrainian natural resources, which US President Donald Trump called a possible way to compensate for Ukraine's military support after a full -scale invasion of Russia.
