Salvador agreed to accept deported criminals from the United States, regardless of their citizenship and country of origin, including Americans. This proposal was made by President Salvador Nai Ibukele in the framework of a unique migration agreement with the United States, Bloomberg .
The agreement was announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his diplomatic tour of Latin America.
“As a sign of exceptional friendship with our country and aware of the problems we face, the President Bukele has agreed to the unprecedented agreement. More detailed information will be presented later, ”Rubio said.
According to the newspaper, Washington seeks to conclude similar agreements with other countries in the region. Earlier, Venezuela has already agreed to restore flights to return their citizens to the US.
The bug confirmed the proposal on the social network X , emphasizing that Salvador proposed the United States to transfer part of his prison system to outsourcing. He noted that the country would only accept convicted criminals and charge for it.
"This amount will be relatively low for the United States, but significant for us, which will make all our prison system stable," Bukele said.
