Serbia President Aleksandar Vuchich stated that his country had made mistakes, supporting the resolution of the UN General Assembly, which confirms the support of Ukraine and its territorial integrity. He said this on February 24, writes Vijesti.
In his opinion, Belgrade should refrain from voting.
“I believe that Serbia made a mistake. I apologize to citizens for this and take responsibility for myself, because it was probably exhausted and could not control everything, ”Vuchich said.
He added that Serbia reflected from the vote on the American project of the resolution and "voted exactly as it should". At the same time, according to him, Belgrade should take a similar position on the European document.
“I say this, though I understand that I can lose support or political points in the EU. But I believe that Serbia had to stay. I didn't have time to pay attention to this, so I can only blame myself, ”the Serbian leader said.
He also stressed that Serbia has been refrain from imposing sanctions against Russia for three years, and one or more resolutions will not change its position.
The UN General Assembly has supported a resolution on the third anniversary of the Russian War against Ukraine. The document was prepared by the Ukrainian side and its partners.
