SpaceX lost Starship and Super Heavy after a successful start

On May 28, SpaceX launched the next, ninth test launch of Starship rocket from the Starbase Starting Playground in Texas. The flight began successfully, but ended in failure - both stages of rockets were lost before the mission was completed.

The Starship ship, which is the second degree, separated from the Super Heavy accelerator and reached the suborbital trajectory. However, when returning to the ground, the ship lost control of orientation. He entered the atmosphere at the wrong angle, which led to its destruction.

In parallel, Super Heavy was also unable to successfully land. It was lost over the Gulf of Mexico. Nevertheless, the launch was important, because the accelerator was used again - this was the first case of re -application in the history of the Starship program.

The Starship system consists of two parts: the first degree of Super Heavy and the upper degree - the Starship ship itself. Both elements are opened as completely reusable for future missions for the month, Mars and further.

Despite the failure, the company does not plan to stop. SpaceX founder Ilon Musk said the following test flights can take place in the coming weeks. According to him, new attempts are planned at intervals of three to four weeks.
