Today, the Ukrainian publication Kyiv Post published an article with the headline "The USA purchased Soviet aircraft from Kazakhstan for transfer to Ukraine." Citing sources, it was said that the United States had purchased dozens of Soviet aircraft in Kazakhstan with the aim of transferring them to Ukraine.
Kazakhstan denied such an agreement.
According to the publication, in October Kazakhstan put up for sale at auction 117 old combat aircraft of the Soviet era, and now it became known that the United States bought 81 of them through offshore intermediaries.
These are MiG-31 interceptors, MiG-27 fighter-bombers, MiG-29 fighters and Su-24 bombers produced in the 1970s and 1980s.
Kazakhstan denies that the planes were bought by the USA.
"Tenders for the sale of aviation equipment were held only for Kazakh companies with the appropriate license with the condition of mandatory liquidation. "Foreign companies were prohibited from participating," Kazspecexport said.
