The US and Ukraine are planning a conference to increase weapons production

The United States Government plans to hold a joint two-day American-Ukrainian Conference on a defense-industrial base for a "significant increase in weapons production".
Representatives of the industry and governments of the two countries will be gathered for the conference organized by the US government in order to "study the possibilities of joint production and other industrial cooperation in Ukraine".
This was announced on Friday, November 17, US National Security Council Edrient Watson.
The report was made against the background of doubt about the adoption of a new defense assistance package to Ukraine in the US Congress.
The conference will take place on December 6-7 this year, and is “part of the US government's efforts to significantly increase the production of weapons to support Ukraine's struggle for freedom and security”, the organizers say.
The conference on the US side will be attended by representatives of the National Security Council, Ministries of Defense and Trade, and the State Department of the United States. The Ukrainian side will be represented by guests from the Presidential Office, as well as ministries, strategic industry and foreign affairs, Watson said.
Earlier this week, Pentagon Procurement Head Bill Lapant commented on a future conference during his speech at the Politico Defense Summit, noting that the Pentagon intends to assist Ukraine in building an internal defense-industrial base.
"Everyone wants to help Ukrainians build their own capabilities," Laplant.
In turn, Watson added that the conference will continue the work of the International Defense Industry Forum organized by Ukraine on September 29 this year.
The event is intended to "confirm the US long-term obligations to the American defense-industrial base, economic restoration of Ukraine, as well as a common obligation to strengthen industrial cooperation, cooperation in the field of arms and security between both nations."
The new US assistance for Ukraine risks moving to the middle of December, and possibly longer, which calls on Washington's ability to maintain the flow of weapons, which Baiden's administration and the Ukrainian government believes is vital.
Ukraine's supporters in Congress and are in a difficult struggle for a large package of assistance, the fate of which is now intertwined with the party struggle for border policy and detached from compulsory draft laws that would prompted rapid action.
