The Russians "do not have the strength" to capture the Donetsk and Luhansk regions this year

This opinion was expressed by the head of the GUR Budanov on the pages of the Wall Street Journal.

The intelligence officer admitted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently in a difficult situation due to a lack of weapons and personnel, "but Russia also has problems."

Budanov claims that the Russian are poorly trained, they spend more shells and tanks than they produce, and the Russians also have a clear lack of missiles, according to Budanov.

"In recent weeks, missile strikes on Ukrainian cities have stopped because Russian supplies have run out,"
the WSJ quoted him as saying.

The publication adds that the scenario described by Budanov is "optimal" for the West, according to government officials and experts. If Ukraine is able to conduct a defense this year and restore its forces, then in 2025 the Armed Forces could go on the counteroffensive again.
