In the US, they blocked an attempt to cancel citizenship under birth

Federal Judge Debora Bordman made a decision that temporarily blocks Donald Trump's executive decree aimed at cancellation of citizenship under birth. She stressed that this order contradicts the 14th amendment to the US Constitution , the precedents of the Supreme Court and the 250-year history of the country.

Bordman's decision is a nationwide preliminary court prohibition that stops the decree. She emphasized that its implementation could cause irreparable harm to the families and children they concern.

The lawsuit was initiated by five pregnant women from Maryland , who feared that their children may lose the right to citizenship, as well as two human rights organizations.

According to the judge, this decree could deprive the children of US citizenship and create legal uncertainty for their parents. Bordman noted that the government did not suffer losses from its decision, since the executive decree is likely to be declared unconstitutional.

The Trump administration is likely to challenge the decision in the Federal Court of Appeal in Richmond, which may lead to a case in the US Supreme Court.

In addition, other legal appeals of the decree are ongoing throughout the country, and courts in different states should consider similar prohibitions in the near future.

So far, the prohibition remains in force, protecting the right to citizenship for all children born in the territory of the US.
