The Government of Ukraine has allocated 1.1 billion hryvnias for the purchase of drones for brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This initiative was a response to the Presidential President of this week to increase direct funding for military units. Prime Minister Denis Shmigal reported this during a briefing.
"Today this order will be fulfilled. The Ministry of Defense allocates an additional UAH 1.1 billion for the purchase of drones. These are funds that will go directly to the brigades so that they can quickly close the most important needs," the Prime Minister said.
According to Shmigal, in December the Ministry of Defense will transfer military units in total UAH 4.3 billion, of which:
- 8.8 billion hryvnias will be directed to the purchase of drones,
- 3.9 billion hryvnias - on weapons and equipment,
- 2.1 billion hryvnias - by car,
- 1.5 billion hryvnias - for radio electronic fight.
Shmigal also stressed that direct financing of brigades in 2024 will be at no less than this year. Particular attention is paid to the production of drones, which is planned to reach more than 1.5 million units in 2024.
The Prime Minister reported that in 10 months of 2024 the government has already allocated UAH 229 billion for the purchase of military equipment, weapons, ammunition, personal protective equipment, as well as defense products. An additional UAH 226 billion is aimed at purchasing goods to meet the needs of the Armed Forces.
