The United Kingdom and Norway have announced the allocation of new military assistance package to Ukraine totaling £ 450 million (approximately $ 585 million). This decision was made in response to Ukraine's constant calls to the international community to provide greater military support in the fight against Russian aggression. The UK Ministry of Defense has confirmed this information, emphasizing the importance of providing the necessary means to ensure Ukraine's security and defense capability.
From the declared amount, £ 350 million will be provided by the United Kingdom, and the rest - 100 million pounds - Norway. Both countries agreed to work through a specially created fund for Ukraine, which is governed by the British side. An important aspect of this fund is that it allows you to quickly and efficiently direct funds for the direct needs of the Ukrainian army, including the purchase of high -tech defense equipment.
The allocated funds will go for the supply of important defense systems, including drones, anti -tank mines and radar systems. Within this package, hundreds of thousands of drones will be purchased, which play an important role in the modern war. Drones allow the Ukrainian military to effectively carry out exploration and monitoring of hostile positions, as well as perform combat missions with minimal losses.
However, not only new supplies will be the main purpose of this help package. 160 million pounds will be aimed at repairing and maintaining the military equipment that the United Kingdom has previously provided Ukraine. This includes repairs of armored vehicles, artillery systems and other important equipment, which is in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Defense Minister of Great Britain, reporting a new package of assistance, emphasized the importance of providing Ukraine with the most modern defense systems, which can effectively resist the Russian military offensive. He stressed that Russia's actions violate international law, and therefore the international community should continue to provide Ukraine with comprehensive support.
Norway, which, together with the United Kingdom, actively assists Ukraine, also declared its readiness to continue its support. According to the Minister of Defense of Norway, this assistance is part of the broader European Union and NATO strategy to support Ukraine in its struggle for territorial integrity and independence.
Norway also noted that its contribution to assistance to Ukraine is important not only from a military point, but also in view of the humanitarian situation. "We must be sure that Ukraine is able to protect its citizens and the territory, so we are ready to provide it with the necessary resources to continue the fight," said the Government of Norway.
This new assistance package demonstrates a strong position of Great Britain and Norway to support Ukraine. Britain, which is one of the main NATO members, has repeatedly provided Ukraine with important military assistance, including the supply of weapons and equipment, as well as the preparation of the Ukrainian military. Norway, although it is a small country, also has considerable experience in the field of defense and actively supports international efforts in helping Ukraine.
Together with other NATO, Britain and Norway allies, they contribute to the protection of Ukraine's sovereignty and stability in Europe as a whole. The joint efforts of these two countries are an important signal for other countries that Ukraine's support is a global priority for the international community.
