Great Britain calls on NATO countries to increase defense spending

The head of the British Foreign Ministry, David Cameron, appealed to NATO Allies to establish a new share of the costs of the defense sphere. In his speech at the National Center for Cyber Security on May 9, he urged NATO countries to increase defense spending, believing that these funds should be at least 2.5% of GDP.

The UK Foreign Minister has also criticized European allies who refuse to invest in defense, even when a war is ongoing on the continent, which should be reminiscent of Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"The world has become more dangerous, unstable and confrontational than ever before. We must recognize this fact and act respectively-not a year or two, not in a few months, but now," David Cameron emphasized.

The UK plans provide for the achievement of defense costs at 2.5% of GDP by 2030. Currently, the benchmark for defense in NATO countries is 2% of GDP.
