An unexpected effect of women's tears on men was revealed

It turned out that aggression in men was halved under the influence of chemicals in women's tears, as shown by research by scientists of the Veyzman Science Institute in Israel. This discovery indicates an unexpected effect of tears on brain activity.

Earlier it was known that male rodents are blocked when they sniff the tears of females. To determine whether the effect is similar in humans, scientists conducted an experiment involving men who played a computer game for two. One of the players was specially provoked on aggressive behavior against the other player. During the experiment, subjects were exposed to female tears or saline.

During the game, participants had the opportunity to take revenge on another player, forcing him to lose money. However, after men sniff women's tears, aggressive behavior, which was revealed for a dishonest game, decreased by more than 40 percent.

Studies with the help of magnetic resonance imaging revealed that two areas of the brain-the prefrontal cortex and the anterior island part-became more active in aggression and reduced their activity under the influence of tears.

Determining the connection between tears, brain activity and aggressive behavior indicates that social chemosignalization affects human aggression and is not unique to rodents.
