Russian troops actively use the thermobaric combat part of the TV BC-50 on Shahd-136 drone, directing them to attacks in Ukrainian cities. Thermobaric ammunition or ammunition of a voluminous explosion pose a serious threat, especially when trapped in a closed room, due to a powerful explosive force and a high explosion temperature, which can cover several rooms in buildings.
The availability of TV BC-50 became known more than half a year ago due to the breakdown of the Russian servers of the Russian manufacturer Alabuga in Tatarstan. It is here that the ShahED-136 drones are collected and modernized, including the installation of thermobaric ammunition. The battle part of the TV BC-50 weighs 52.4 kg and contains more than 2,300 metal balls with a diameter of 9 mm, which cause additional fragmental effect, enhancing the destructive effect of the explosion.
Unlike the previous two-stroke thermobaric ammunition, where the explosive mixture first filled the space before blasting, TB BC-50 has a one-stroke effect. The initiator is blown instantly, launching a thermobaric mixture, which, responding to the air, forms a "fiery cloud" with a temperature of up to 2600 ° C. This cloud covers all available space in the room, which causes severe burns and serious damage to the internal organs, especially lungs and hearing.
Experts emphasize that such weapons are extremely dangerous in closed expanses, as the fiery cloud can extend to several rooms. In city battles, Russia actively uses these drones with TB-50 TV-50, purposefully choosing places where there are a large number of civilians, to maximize harm.
Due to the peculiarities of the action of thermobaric ammunition, protection against them is complicated. Whereas with fragile-figurative attacks from the explosion can protect the rule of "two walls", in the case of TV BC-50, the fiery cloud enters all available rooms. Therefore, experts advise, if it is impossible to reach a special shelter, to be in a room that is separated from the external environment by two walls and closed interior doors. This rule of "closed doors" can reduce the spread of a thermobaric mixture inside the apartment.
However, the most reliable way of protection is to stay in specially equipped shelters during an air attack.
